Elaine McGowan - Consultant Dietitian / Nutritionist

Elaine graduated from Trinity College with a B.Sc., (Hons) in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She gained wide experience working as clinical nutritionist in several hospitals prior to establishing her first private dietetic clinic in 1992, in Limerick.

Private Practice Experience

Having established her first private dietetic clinic in Limerick in 1992, the practice has further expanded to clinics in Ennis and both Dublin North and South. Elaine has gained vast experience specializing in providing private individual dietetic consultations for her clients in her clinics for the past 17 years. In recent years, her main areas of interest are weight management, obesity, diabetes, heart disease and nutrition and gastro-enterology. Elaine is an active member of the INDI and was chairperson of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic weight management interest group from 2005 to 2007.

Dietetic and Nutrition Consultancy

Elaine has provided dietetic consultancy to a wide range of industries including private hospitals, hotels and catering companies. She has designed, piloted, implemented and co-ordinated workplace wellbeing programmes for several prominent companies and large international corporations.

Sports Nutrition Experience

In 1992 Elaine completed the British Dietetic Association's Sports Dietitian course with accreditation. In 1996 Elaine received her Masters in Sports Nutrition from the University of Limerick. Elaine worked for the Olympic Council of Ireland for the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games.

For the 2000 Olympic Games Elaine worked for the Sailing and Rowing Squads. Elaine has a wealth of experience working with sports people from a variety of sports, both individual and team, from club level to international standard.

With her expertise in this area Elaine was very involved for many years in setting up the nutrition component of the National Athlete Player Support Network. Other prestige clients include the Irish National Rugby Squad and the National Training and Coaching Centre Limerick.
